mr. xavier // Assistant Director

Xavier was born and raised in New York City and came out to San Diego with his girlfriend and dog to start a new life.  He has a bachelors degree in Hispanic Literature from Queens College.

Xavier started working with children at a very young age, babysitting for families in his local Queens community.  Once he started university Xavier worked with inner-city youth and their families. After graduating from college he worked in Europe for a year with the Tapia Chacon family,  caring for and looking after their three young boys.  During this time Xavier hiked over 1400 km over the Pyrenees and through northern Spain, an accomplishment he holds dear to himself.  In coming back to the states Xavier began working for a Reggio Emilia inspired not-for-profit organization/learning center in Brooklyn New York called Studio Creative Play.  There with mindful practices, they focused on creating a safe, fun and stimulating environment for children to grow and learn with an emphasis on art, music, and movement.  Throughout these years Xavier has studied Kyokushinkai karate, whose philosophy he follows a daily basis.

In his free time, you can find Xavier playing sports, hiking, doodling, reading, cooking, playing with his dog and practicing karate. He is so excited to be a part of the Little Sprouts family and to grow and learn with the entire community.
